Some people have told me I look like Dave Grohl (horse nashers) out of the foofighters but I don't see any resemblance, maybe I'm in denial.

i find her most unfeminine and unattractive.
but it doesn't piss me off half as much as when i'm told i look like liza minelli.

I Don't Hate JW's. I Just Think They're Wrong
by minimus inevery so often, i'll read on the board how some just hate jw's.
whether it's the individuals or the organization, some vehemently abhor everything connected to jehovah's witnesses.
i do not personally hate anyone.

I think many people are victims to themselves.
I saw a middle class woman on the TV the other night and she was fanatically dissing how these 'hippie' type travellers lived. I was thinking, she's just acting like my JW mum. She was so fanatical about how they should be living, saying it should even be forced on them because she was so convinced her way was right for everyone else. The guy who was a traveller then said she was fanatical even like a religious fanatic - he took the words right out of my mouth. Everyone can't be right or wrong but you can stand up for what you believe in.

Fitting In
by Descender indid anyone else have a hard time fitting in with non-witnesses when you left the witnesses?
i never had a hard time fitting in with witnesses since i grew up as one, i was always popular in witness circles and could usually strike up an easy conversation with someone as long as i knew they were a witness.
but i just can't find any common points of interest with anyone anymore since i've been disfellowshipped twice and then finally faded away a year and a half ago.

I never fitted in with the witno's. It was just like a mental barrier that was such an unbelievable relief to leave behind (Wouldn't go through that again for the world).
I think you've gotta work to make life fit around you by doing things you wanna do and not try to 'fit in' too much - give our sens a break.

Well, my little brother is heading back to the Dark Side...
by Michael3000 inthis is so frustrating - just wanted to vent a bit.. .
my younger brother, who has been "inactive" for about 8 years, has decided that everything wrong about his life is due to his not being "right with jehovah".
arrrrrrgh!!!

I'm sorry mate!
Maybe with a bit of time he'll get less fanatical again once the 'love bombing' stops and reality sets in. If not you can at least keep your end of the bargain and be open to him. Must be so frustrating though - having that relationship and then things blowing up like this - we're rooting for you... it's so unfair.
Maybe he just got hooked up on the doctrinal stuff and other issues and didn't realise how damaging it is to peoples normal pshycology. Things will calm down, just give it a bit of time, it might eventually make him realise.

Do you have a 'turning point' memory that started you to question?
by Steve Lowry inmine was when i was about ten years old or so back in the mid sixties.
we had a guy in our k.hall who actually lived through the 1914 experience (earl senior).
he was well into his seventies i guess even then and was one of the annointed.

I will never forget my turning point!
I was on a bus and I heard a young guy on the back of the bus saying that his little sister and his mother had the jws calling and now his little sister started acting wierd with him - talking about birthdays and treating him different cos he was 'worldly'. He was really confused and lost with it all. You could tell he was feeling he was losing his nlittle sister. I'd already stopped going for a while but that was a bit of reality i'll never forget.

i would party on saturday night, and drag my butt to the sunday meeting hungover.
does anyone here know how hard it is to answer a question during the wt study hungover?

It was near the point of no return I was doing stuff that the jws would do you for, hadn't been to a meeting for a while, so I wouldn't class myself a jw. I wasn't sqeeky clean. I mean I got drunk but who doesn't. I went out clubbing and had 'stuff' but that was a good experience for me. Then once I went to the kh after a night clubbing and no sleep-sat through the talk and thought what the hell am i doing here and that was it!

I was always severly anxitious and and the paranioa they make you feel, none of which are really severe but they really affected my relationship with the world and people in general a lot, especially cos I was brought up in it.
I think the so-called 'service' (to the org) made me realise a lot. For a moment your taken out of that JW bubble and around 'normal people' and the reactions and discussions they would have when I was very young would sometimes make me think a lot.

Some People Enjoy Being Jehovah's Witnesses For Various Reasons
by minimus insome individuals truly enjoy being jehovah's witnesses.
i think about those that would have liked to be in acting.
well, having a part in a demonstration in the service meeting or giving a talk in the theocratic ministry school gives one the opportunity to act, be melodramatic, show a little comedic talent, etc.

It's good for lazy people cos you don't have to think or owt. Just say the right things at the right time straight out of a mag or book.
The book study I went to years ago was interesting enough cos the elders son used to, well, spank his monkey, while he was sitting on the floor next too his dad in full view of everyone while his dad was giving the study. One time when he got to a bit on masturbation...
